The annual Public Interest Alberta (pialberta.org) “Common Purpose, Collective Action” conference is in Edmonton on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th at the Barnett House in Edmonton to discuss all collective action taken in the publics’ interest in Alberta and how we can find the links between us to strengthen our efforts. I will be be there, you should be there, too!

I just had another fabulous conversation with Charlie Angus / The Resistance about Kevin O’Leary’s “Wonder Valley” project proposed in Alberta. The project will:

  • Add 7-12 million homes in terms of power usage while Alberta has the highest energy costs of all provinces

  • Use more than a Sylvan Lake amount of water annually, while the agriculture sector is limited to 1/4 of this amount.

  • Provides the USA access to our information via the Cloud Act.

  • Benefits United Arab Emirates (UAE) investors… meanwhile, their revenue has been halted by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

  • A federal impact assessment must be required, the agriculture sector cannot afford this water draw, nor can the environment.

Contact the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, request a Federal Impact Assessment be done on this project and any project planned in Alberta. It is clear Alberta is not being governed or regulated well here.

Correction: I said the US emissions are off by 7 per cent. I meant they’re off by 7 times. Here’s a study led out of McGill University on the subject from last year: Sevenfold Underestimation of Methane Emissions from Non-producing Oil and Gas Wells in Canada.
