Alberta is Recalling

A discussion with fellow recall petition leaders and volunteers

In this episode of The Gravity Well podcast, Jenny hosted fellow recall petition filers and volunteers who files recall notices against their Member of the Legislative Assembly. Using legislation created by the part in power to demonstrate opposition to Alberta government’s policies, highlighting issues such as the use of the notwithstanding clause and its impact on teachers, trans kids, as well as members of professional organizations. Participants shared personal stories and motivations for their activism, including concerns about education, environmental stewardship, and social justice.

The episode also discussed the challenges of organizing recall campaigns against certain government officials, emphasizing the need for community engagement and respectful dialogue. Participants expressed a desire to reconnect communities and address the erosion of rights, with a focus on nonpartisan governance and collective action.

The podcast episode concluded with a call to action for more people to get involved in politics and community initiatives, highlighting the importance of leadership and collaboration in addressing social and environmental crises. I am proud to be working with these leaders and am excited to see what comes of this exhilarating and exhausting work.
